Contribute to ElkNet
ElkNet is driven by volunteers, and we can't succeed without your input. If you have something you think belongs on this site, please read this entire page and follow the directions contained here. We are better able to serve you and get your information on the site quickly if you pay careful attention to these directions. What kinds of things can I submit? We take submissions for the following types of information:
What kinds of things do you not allow? We do not allow:
What if my item doesn't fall into one of these categories? If your item isn't covered by the above lists, please go ahead and submit it anyways. We will evaluate it and decide if it is appropriate for posting. In evaluating items, generally we apply the "Mission Test": if the item is related to the RMEF and the mission, it passes. Are there special formatting requirements for information? Yes. The requirements are fairly straightforward. Basically, we ask that you submit your information in text format. What this means is you generally cannot submit documents created with programs such as Microsoft Word or Microsoft Excel. There are some exceptions. The list below shows the various types of information we accept and how we want the information formatted.
Where do I send my information once I have it assembled? Your information should be sent to your state webmaster. If you do not know who your state webmaster is, please see the volunteer directory. If your state webmaster is not listed, you may send it to the regional webmaster, Ken Kajita. When e-mailing information, please prefix the subject line of your e-mail with "ElkNet Submission:" and a brief description of the item you are submitting. How long after I send my information will it be posted? Depending on the circumstances, usually your item will be posted within 72 hours. However, it can occasionally take up to a week or more to post some information. Your item will be posted faster if you follow the formatting requirements above. We generally will e-mail you a confirmation that your item has been posted. I have spotted an error in a piece of information on this site. If you think you have found an error, either e-mail your state webmaster or regional webmaster with information about the error. It really helps if you submit the full URL to the item in question with your e-mail. How can I get involved working on the ElkNet site? From time to time, we have various openings for volunteers to work on the ElkNet site. It is best to contact either your state chair or the regional webmaster if you are interested.
